Order Paper Top 25 Ranking: #3

the Scouting Report
We claim, with genuine admiration, that Cooper is a world-class needler. Her oral questions in the Chamber are usually twice as long as those other MP's are able to get away with, but as she has had a distinguished parliamentary career in advocacy for her constituency, cabinet service, and committee responsibility, Cooper is one of the few MP's who can be forgiven for taking extra time. Whereas others waste time with repetition or grandstanding, Cooper crafts her abundance of words into nuanced questions that demand careful answers. When she does use a question to engage in political showmanship, the question is short, incisive, and effective.

Noteworthy Contributions by Yvette Cooper

April 19, 2017 | Yvette Cooper | Theresa May
Yvette Cooper, PMQ's, ahead of the 2017 snap election, plus a classic look of disapproval, dare we say stink-eye, from Theresa May.

February 5, 2018 | John Bercow | Yvette Cooper | Philip Davies | Esther McVey | Anna Soubry | Desmond Swayne
Points of Order before an Urgent Question put by Yvette Cooper. There is a brief pause during which Vicky Ford apologizes to Speaker John Bercow for posing a (mildly) disorderly question. Bercow genially tells her that there is no need to apologize.

April 11, 2016 | David Cameron | Yvette Cooper
Yvette Cooper asks Prime Minister David Cameron about the fairness of his tax policies during a statement on the Panama Papers.
