 The Backbench Shakeup of 2019 (Posted February 20, 2019) Tweet Three Conservative MP's have crossed the floor, joining independent MP's on the opposition benches, in response to the government's Brexit policy. They join seven Labour MPs who left the party this week to signal their discontent with the party's leadership, its handling of the Brexit debates, and anti-Semitism among its members. These are the most notable defections since veteran MP Frank Field announced he would become an independent six months ago.
