Sir David Amess (Posted October 15, 2021)

Tragic news today, as Sir David Amess was killed in a knife attack at his constituency surgery. Sir David was one of the House's most beloved and respected members, a kind, uniting figure in a polarized political atmosphere who embodied the parliamentary principle of moderation and good humor. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and all of us outside observers who enjoyed his witty, colorful, and impactful contributions in the Chamber.

Posted below is Sir David's tribute to Speaker John Bercow on Bercow's last day in the Chair. We will post others' tributes to Sir David as they become available.
